Wood Floor Shapes and Sizes

Here are a few basic wood flooring shapes and sizes for floorboards:

Strip

Strip is the conventional wood flooring we have become accustomed to; it has a timeless, elegant look. Each strip is long (usually at least 4 feet long) and is between 2 1/4″ and 3 1/4″ wide.

Plank

More popular in recent years, plank flooring gives homes a slightly more rustic look. Plank is usually as long as strip flooring but are wider. Widths from 4″ to 6″ are the most popular.

Parquet

Parquet flooring is a series of wood flooring pieces typically square in shape.
